At the port of Massa Carrara and specifically at the Yard of the Nuovo Pignone, 6 modules by GE Oil & Gas for the United Arab Emirates have been assembled for power supply required for the development of the Upper Zakum oil field, north-west of Abu Dhabi.
TECNOTask S.p.A. has performed the installation of 180 tons of Stainless Steel Piping and 30 tons of supports related to the piping.
The modules are to be installed on an artificial island located at 80 km from Abu Dhabi. The Upper Zakum oilfield, managed by ZADCO (a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company – ADNOC, of which ExxonMobil and Japan Oil Development Company are the shareholders), is located at northwest of Abu Dhabi and covers 1,200 square kilometers. Upper Zakum is the second largest oil field in the Persian Gulf and the fourth largest in the world.
